Restaurants Continue to Pursue Growth Through Franchising Restaurant chains still consider new franchise agreements to be a main avenue for growth, says a new report from foodservice consultant Technomic. In response to the recession, many franchisors have offered their franchisees incentives like enhanced credit support, fee reductions, and temporarily reduced royalty rates. Others have worked with franchisees to drive down supply chain costs. Tootie Pie Company, Inc. (OTCBB:TOOT) announced that Dawson Holdings, LP has taken a 15% equity stake in the Tootie Pie Company. There’s a fundamental shift that seems to be going on in restaurants. As with life, things keep getting more casual and the line between a bar and restaurant continues to blur. McLane lands Yum distribution deal for Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut llals Unified Foodservice Purchasing Co-op LLC, the exclusive purchasing agent for Yum! Brands Inc., has signed a distribution deal that makes Temple, Texas-based McLane Foodservice Inc. the exclusive provider of products to Yum’s A&W, KFC, Long John Silver’s, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants.
