'Historic' label in works for Iron City02/04/2010 2:08:58 PM
By Adam Brandolph Lawrenceville's famous Iron City Brewery is about to officially become a piece of Pittsburgh's history. The Historic Review Commission on Wednesday designated the property historic. City Council must approve the designation, which would limit future changes to the exterior of the more than 20 buildings on 10 acres near the intersection of 34th Street and Liberty Avenue.
"I'm very excited," said Councilman Patrick Dowd, whose district includes Lawrenceville. "In the minds of most -- if not all -- Pittsburghers, this clearly is a historical site." |
